CDE Combo™ Announced as GCC Business Innovation of the Year

It's celebration time for the CDE Middle East & North Africa (MENA) team, as last night we won a prestigious award for our approach to the development of sustainable technologies in the Middle East.

Our innovative Combo™, the world’s first all-in-one wet processing plant, which was unveiled in Europe at bauma in April 2019, was awarded Business Innovation of the Year at the 2019 MEED Awards, organised by the Middle East Economic Digest.

CDE was presented with the award by category sponsor ACWA Power at the recent award ceremony which took place in the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre.

Now in their third year, the MEED Awards recognise private sector companies who are leading the way in advancing regional agendas for people, diversification, society, and sustainability.

Since 1992, CDE has installed almost 2,000 wet processing systems worldwide, including in MENA (Middle East and North Africa). Now a household name in the Gulf construction materials industry, CDE builds upon its presence in the region every month with the installation of new, state-of-the-art wet processing plants generating tens of millions in revenue for customers by maximising product quantity and quality while reducing operational costs through sustainable technologies.

The Combo™ all-in-one wet processing & water treatment system is a unique proposition on the Gulf market, where traditional materials processing systems such as bucket wheels are still widely used. Now, operators in the Gulf region require advanced technological solutions to address shortcomings that impact on the quality and quantity of their products but support the continued advancement and adoption of sustainable practices in line with regional agendas throughout the GCC.

Especially pertinent to Gulf countries where water can be scarce, the patented Combo™ features integrated water treatment and can recycle up to 90% of process water for immediate reuse and recirculation in the system.

The 2019 judging panel commented: “In acknowledging and addressing challenges unique to the GCC, CDE has had a game-changing impact for materials producers and users in the region. Their investment in R&D, product development and people means that an entirely new way of using and processing sand has been brought to the GCC. In a region short of water, the company who manages to ensure that 90% of process water is reused and who helps to divert 63,000 tonnes of materials from landfill daily is a well-deserved winner.”
