THE CHALLENGE

Associated Construction Company, Kuwait have purchased an M2500 mobile sand washing plant from CDE Global to improve on the quality of washed sand produced from an existing sand processing plant at a site in Kuwait.

The new washing plant is required as a result of the increasing demand for the quality washed sand produced by ASCO and supplied to many local readymix concrete companies and construction projects currently underway in Kuwait. This represents the first M2500 to be supplied to the Gulf region and the purchase was agreed following a visit to see a similar plant in operation South Beirut, Lebanon by Khaled Nasr, Deputy Manager of the Sand Washing and Infra Works in ASCO.

THE SOLUTION

“The M2500 is the most advanced sand washing system available in Kuwait” says Mr Nasr. “We looked at all the options available and our purchase of the M2500 demonstrates the focus on quality and efficiency that has allowed ASCO to improve on its delivery of high quality washed sand to the construction industry. This addition to our processing capability will ensure that the sand products we offer are of the highest quality available in Kuwait.”

The level of construction activity in Kuwait is driving demand for systems which enhance the quality of sand and aggregates used in construction as companies seek to gain a competitive advantage. “The M2500 is proven across a wide range of materials to ensure production of the highest quality washed sand and aggregates” says Mr Ruchin Garg, CDE Regional Manager for MEA. “The M2500 will be an important introduction to the Gulf region delivering enhanced product quality and operational efficiencies.”

THE RESULTS

The upgrade to the ASCO sand washing operation also includes the supply of Aquacycle thickener to allow for up to 90% of the water used in the sand washing process to be recycled. “The Aquacycle has been specified in this instance as a result of the compact plant footprint offered by the M2500 and Aquacycle in combination. The Aquacycle allows us to reduce the environmental impact of our operations by minimising the amount of water required to run the new washing plant” explains Mr Nasr.

Although this is the first project in The Gulf region for the M2500 it has been specified across a number of other territories including Europe, Latin America, Russia, India and Australasia. In addition to sand and gravel the M2500 has been applied in the processing of crushed rock, scalpings, construction and demolition waste recycling and iron ore fines washing.
