Northeast Firm To More Than Double C&D Waste Processing Capacity With CDE Plant

12 October 2021

Based in Stockton-on-Tees, Scott Bros has announced plans for a significant investment in the development of a new construction and demolition (C&D) wash plant from CDE.

Established in 1971, Scott Bros began specialising in supplying tipper lorries and backhoe excavators. They are now one of the largest and most well-known haulage, plant hire and recycling companies in the Northeast of England with over 30 trucks moving per day.

When commissioned, the new CDE plant will more than double the C&D waste processing capacity for the firm, producing seven in-spec recycled sand and aggregate products.

This investment will assist Scott Bros to go from repurposing 80% of their waste to recycling all incoming waste as well as allowing them to process more skips containing commercial, construction and demolition waste.

Highlighting why Scott Bros chose to invest in CDE, Peter Scott, a director of Scott Bros, said: “We are experiencing huge demand for our recycled sand and aggregate. Normally we can build up a stockpile, but it is being loaded onto the trucks and going straight out to customers as quickly as we can process it.”

Fellow director Bob Borthwick added: “We have tripled our original investment to ensure Scott Bros is able to reuse and recycle as much material as possible by designing our waste and creating sustainable solutions.”

CDE’s Business Development Manager Mike Bibby stated that this project is a marks the beginning of a new journey in the Northeast of England.

“When complete, this plant will be the first CDE solution of its kind in the region. With its capability in handling tough material, the patented technology in this modular solution will assist Scott Bros to maximise product yield from their feed material as well as guaranteeing a lifetime of superior performance.”

He adds Scott Bros are dedicated to becoming more sustainable and CDE are excited for the opportunity to help Scott Bros in achieving this.

“We are confident our knowledge and industry expertise can fully enable Scott Bros to become market leaders in this space. The adoption our technology at this site will play a positive role in the circular economy in the north of England.”
